WHICH CHIROPRACTER?

by Elvan Levent                                                                       January 8, 2026

Honestly, it is a question I hear all the time, and it is a crucial one, especially when it concerns our health. Making the right choice is not easy, and trust me, finding a good chiropractor is no simple task.

But I do have an answer to this question:

Dr. Costas Hadjikonstantinou at the Health Q Chiropractic Center.

And here is why.

Those who have experienced paralysing back pain, even once, will understand immediately. It is impossible to ignore, and impossible to forget.

The first time I felt it was a week after an accident I hadn’t even paid much attention to.

I drove to a meeting, parked the car, opened the door to get out, and the moment I attempted to move, I froze. A horrifying pain took over. I was simply unable to make a single move.

From that moment until the next day, when I arrived at Dr. Costas Hadjikonstantinou’s clinic, I could hardly move and was unable to keep my back straight. Honestly, I started to think this was forever.

The next day, I entered the clinic. Dr. Costas asked me a few questions and showed me a couple of movements to see whether I could repeat them. I couldn’t do any of them. He explained, very simply, what was happening and what he was going to do. The entire treatment lasted around ten minutes. What followed felt like one of those rare moments in life that border on the miraculous- as if I had been reborn. I left the clinic dancing. No X-rays. No pills.

That was many years ago. Since then, I have visited Health Q many times, and each time I have left with the same feeling: that something close to magic had just happened.

What distinguishes Dr. Costas Hadjikonstantinou is a clearly patient-centred approach. Consultations are marked by attentive listening and a genuine effort to understand individual concerns before proceeding with treatment.

From the very first visit, he handles the communication with clarity and care. He explains diagnoses and treatment plans in accessible terms, allowing the patient to understand both the process and the expected outcomes without feeling overwhelmed.

His practice reflects a holistic understanding of the body, approaching physical issues as interconnected rather than treating symptoms in isolation. His treatment techniques are gentle yet precise, grounded in strong professional knowledge -an essential requirement in chiropractic practice.

Care is consistently individualised, with a noticeable emphasis on long-term well-being rather than immediate relief alone. The guidance he provides often includes practices that support sustained spinal and muscular health.

Professional integrity is central to his work. Expectations are managed realistically, with clear communication about what chiropractic care can -and cannot address.

I could go on, but no matter how much is said, it is difficult to overstate the importance of having such a professional on the island. I truly hope you will not need a doctor -but if you ever find yourself needing a chiropractor, you now know where to look.

Rustem Bookshop

Established in 1937 as a bookshop and publishing house in North Nicosia’s old town, Rustem Bookshop is more than a place to buy books — it is a quiet refuge for thought, memory, and slow discovery. Stepping inside feels like entering a living archive, where shelves bend under the weight of history, literature, philosophy, and rare publications that reflect the layered identity of the island. Time moves differently here; every book seems to carry a story beyond its pages.

Rustem Bookshop stands out for its atmosphere as much as for its carefully curated selection and the delicious homemade food served on the second floor. Its intimate terrace bar, covered with plants, feels almost secret, like a hidden corner waiting to be discovered. In a city shaped by division and resilience, the shop feels like a gentle act of resistance — a space that values curiosity, dialogue, and intellectual freedom. For locals and visitors alike, Rustem Bookshop is not just a stop in the old town, but a place to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the cultural soul of North Nicosia.
